The Church Hill Inn was built with the guest in mind. A unique architectural design gives the Inn spacious open areas throughout taking away that hotel corridor feeling. There are four fireplace common areas throughout the inn where guests can catch up on some reading, put a puzzle together, play games or enjoy a beverage by the fire. Built in 1986, the Inn originally boasted the restaurant Winston’s, where the breakfast dining room is now. However, to provide privacy to guests, the restaurant was closed to the public in 1987. The name, Church Hill Inn, was chosen as the Inn sits atop the Sister Bay hill adjacent to the Church, however, with the influence of the English Innkeeper, subtle and not so subtle references to Winston Churchill are also made. The American made London Taxi is parked out front from May to November. Approximately 90 of the famous black taxis were made in the United States as an experiment to replace the Checker Cabs. The venture failed, but the cab out front is a rare and fun reminder of those icons of London life. My wife Lisa and I are the current owners and Innkeepers and can be found at the Inn almost every day. We welcome the opportunity to meet new guests, and reconnect with returning ones. After all, that is what innkeeping is all about!
